Билл шифр на английском как пишется

Reality is an illusion, the universe is a hologram, buy gold, bye!
―Bill Cipher

Bill Cipher is the main antagonist of Gravity Falls. He is a Dream-Demon with mysterious motives and seems to have a vendetta against the Pines family, especially his old rival Stanford Pines.

Background

Bill is an ancient demon who’s older than the galaxy and far greater than other nightmare beings. Bill once lived in the Second Dimension, a place that he soon destroyed and described as a «flat world with flat minds and flat ideas.» Bill then became determined of spreading chaos and destruction, which forced him to «liberate» his dimension by destroying everything there, including his own parents. Eventually, he found his way to the Nightmare Realm where Bill soon met up with the Henchmaniacs. In this dimension, Bill had no corporeal form, so he could only access or possess the minds of humans. With this ability, Bill manipulated countless humans so that he could find a way to enter the Third Dimension, then gain a physical form and liberate that dimension as well.

As trillions of years passed, Bill’s interactions were recorded throughout the history of humanity. At one point in time, he encountered natives who lived in what would become Gravity Falls, Oregon. The people discovered that Bill was too dangerous and found a way to defeat him using a zodiac with ten different symbols. The people left behind a painting depicting their encounter with the demon, instructions on how to summon him, and a warning to never read it. Stanford Pines would discover this symbol in the late twentieth century when he came to investigate the town, hoping that it would help him in his research on Gravity Falls’ anomalies. After a failed attempt to summon the entity, Ford ended up encountering Bill in his dreams, where he offered to help with the answer to Ford’s questions of the universe and gain his trust. Ford was blinded by this flattery when he agreed to the deal.

Bill then had Ford build a machine that he claimed would benefit mankind, but in reality, it was a portal for the demon to enter the 3rd Dimension. However, one of Ford’s human friends, Fiddleford McGucket, discovered the true nature of the portal and warned Ford before completing their project. Horrified and betrayed, Ford shut down the project and hid all three journals on how to operate it, shifting to working on countermeasures in case the demon ever returned. Bill, however, patiently boded his time for the portal to reactivate.

Sightings

Before his debut in «Dreamscaperers», Bill appeared frequently in Gravity Falls. He was an unseen character who wrote the cryptograms in the online game Rumble’s Revenge. His name and existence are deduced by taking all the capital letters in the cryptograms from Rumble’s Revenge, which forms the sentence: «MY NAME IS BILL.»

A picture of Bill shows briefly at the end of the opening theme. This is partially an image from his entry in book 2. Encircling him are various symbols that can link to various characters in the show. Most notably, when he appears physically for the first time, he refers to Dipper, Mabel, and Soos, as «pine tree, shooting star, and question mark» respectively. The entry also makes special note of his association with the glasses symbol. It also says, «This old triangular being has appeared in my dreams every night for weeks.»

In book 3, the text says «Why is he watching me?» and «Bill has proven himself to be one of the friendliest and most trustworthy individuals that I’ve ever encountered in my life. What a guy! I honestly couldn’t trust him more. Not evil in any way. Bill is a true gentleman.» However, the second part is crossed out in red ink. On the next page is «DO NOT SUMMON AT ALL COSTS!» in red block letters, the rest of the page splatted with a dark red substance.

Physical appearance

Bill is a triangle with a pyramid design, resembling the Illuminati symbol or the Eye of Providence, with an eye in the middle. Among the bottom part of his body is a brick pattern. In the theme song, Bill has a top hat on, a bow tie, and stick arms and legs, but lacks them in most of his cameos. As a metaphysical demon, Bill is capable of altering his body into a variety of frightening and cubic forms. While he can manipulate his own body at will, wounds on Bill seems to suggest his inside has an organic, flesh-like texture. This is hinted at in the Journal 3, where it says, although encoded, that his outer layer is an exoskeleton that in order to eat he has to remove.

Personality

Bill, quite simply, was a master manipulator able to adapt, manipulate, and deceive others through the use of flattery, promises, mind control, or dealings throughout making himself and his objective a mystery. Despite his insane and sadistic ways, Bill was affable, if not obnoxious, to others, but this is only one of the many facades of his unpredictable personality; he is willing to betray, lie, and submit others to a life of misery and torment for his own amusement and shamelessly go back on his deals (whilst technically keeping his promise) through his word lineage and manner of phrases. At times, Bill displays a murderous temper, though seldom seen, and it causes his voice to become deep and guttural, accustom to many beliefs of demonic figures. He also appears to be aware of his insanity, as when Gideon states him as such, he shrugs it off, asking what his point was.

Bill also had a weird and rather sadistic sense of humor. This is displayed during his joyous and maniacal laughter in the face of other peoples and his own pain, such as taking teeth out of a deer and presenting it as a gift to Gideon, switching around every orfice on Northwest’s face and, after taking control of Dipper’s body, describing pain as «hilarious» whilst continuously self-harming, showing he was also masochistic. This doesn’t, however, explain why the Axolotl said, «says he’s happy; he’s a liar,» in the poem stated in the pirates’ treasure novel. It could possibly mean that his twisted sense of humor is just an act that he uses to take his mind off the fact of his family and dimension destroyed by his own hand. Or he enjoys watching others feel the pain that he had carried for billions of years and going. Either way, Bill does have some sort of guilt towards destroying his home, as seen in the verse, «wishes to go home but can’t return.»

Despite his treacherous nature, Bill does have a twisted sense of honor. He will follow through on deals and keep his word, assuming if he’s in the mood for it but strongly prefers the immoral way and largely feels no incentive or debt for anything. Gratuitously, he allowed Gideon control over Gravity Falls after he took a physical form and control of the world. Outside of this, Bill displayed a willingness to go against his own rules, preparing to invade Ford’s mind without his consent, before being reminded that he cannot do that without engaging a deal with the person. He is not above torture or blackmail to obtain what he wants such as attempting to force Ford to accept his deal through intimidation and threatening to murder Dipper and Mabel if he did not consent. Ironically, Bill’s backstabbing ways left him oblivious to a double-cross from the Pines twins, resulting in his defeat.

Despite his confident nature, if Bill gets caught in a helpless situation, he’ll go into a deep panic, as when Bill was tricked into entering Stan’s mind and was about to be erased from existence, Bill desperately tried to bargain with Stan by offering to give him money, fame, riches, infinite power, and even his own galaxy.

Abilities

  • Immortality: Bill is older than the galaxy.
  • Nigh Omniscience: Bill possesses vast knowledge of many things in existence. He is not, however, entirely omniscient, as he has been tricked multiple times in the past.
  • Interdimensional Entity Physiology: Bill is an interdimensional demon.
    • Dealing: One of Bill’s most noticeable abilities is that he can make a contract with someone to give the said person who made a deal with him fame, power, or a request. Bill’s hand becomes surrounded in a blue flame and, once the person exchanges a handshake, while the flame doesn’t harm the person, the deal will be sealed. However, once the deal is sealed, Bill will want something in return that often ends up in his twisted methods. If the person breaks the deal, Bill’s powers won’t have any effects on them, as Gideon broke his deal when Bill failed to get the combination for the safe. Also, making deals is the only way Bill’s powers could have an effect but only to the ones who made a deal with him.
      • Dream Walking: Living up to being called the «Dream Demon», as Bill makes a deal with someone, he can enter their dreams. He entered Stan Pines’ mind to get the combination to the safe after making a deal with Gideon.
      • Possession: Another way if someone makes a deal with someone, Bill can possess a host who made a deal with him. While in the host’s body, their eyes turn into Bill’s.
    • Levitation: Bill can hover and float freely.
    • Reality Manipulation: Another one of Bill’s most noticeable traits is his power to manipulate the laws of reality. Bill can transform organic matter, disorient the physical world, and cause a ripple in the space-time continuum. After breaking the Nightmare Realm, Bill’s powers grew stronger to the point where he can manipulate reality on a cosmic scale.
    • Regeneration: Bill can repair himself if he gets injured, such as his form, his limbs, and his eye. However, he stated it takes an hour for his eye to regrow.
    • Shape-Shifting: Bill can switch his form between 2D to 3D. He can even change into a demonic form with spider-like traits.
    • Size-Alteration: Bill can grow into an enormous or gigantic size and can return to his normal size at will. He is able to increase the size of his body parts as he did with his fist.
    • Telekinesis: Bill can lift and move objects and living beings with his mind.
    • Telepathy: Bill can read a person’s thoughts.
    • Gravity Manipulation: Bill’s top hat changes the gravity of the Earth to whatever the angle of his hat is.
    • Soul Removal: Bill can remove a person’s soul from their bodies, as he removed Dipper’s soul from his body so he could possess it.
    • Body Projection: Bill can remove himself from his physical form to enter the mindscape and his physical form will become stone.
  • Master Manipulator: Another one of Bill’s traits is that he is quite manipulative. Bill can flatter others, deceiving them by promising them anything. He can go as far as to make deals with them only to betray them at the end. Bill once did it with Dipper on how he sacrificed everything to make Mabel happy but never returns the favor, trapped Mabel in a dream that contains her desires, he even tricked Ford Pines and Gideon, with the former admitting he lied and the latter being a skilled deceiver himself.

Appearances

Gravity Falls

Season 1

«Dreamscaperers» is the first time Bill is directly addressed and introduced in the series. Gideon Gleeful, in an attempt to take over the Mystery Shack once again, summons him. Gideon tells him to steal Stan’s safe combination directly from his head so that Gideon can steal the Shack’s deed. Bill immediately agrees once he pictures Stan’s own tattoo, but in return, Gideon would have to help him in his own plans. We don’t know what they are yet, but they might have something to do with a secret society that Stan could possibly be included in. Gideon agrees and the two shake on it. Unbeknownst to Gideon, Mabel and Soos witnessed the deal in the forest, and get Dipper’s help to follow him into Stan’s mind.

Bill in Journal 2.

Once inside Stan’s head, Bill confronts the trio and brags that he knows what they’re all thinking. To prove his statement, he summons Xyler and Craz from Mabel’s imagination. He tricks Mabel and her two dream guys into looking for the memory of Stan’s safe combination first, knowing they would lead him straight to it. At some point, Soos is separated from everyone else, and Bill takes his place. Once they find the correct memory he takes it and nearly escapes with it. But while he was reading out the combination to Gideon (whom he was connected to), Mabel shoots the memory into another memory of the Bottomless Pit with a nyarf gun. Gideon breaks off their deal to Bill’s fury, and he turns his anger onto Mabel and Soos, bringing their worst nightmares to life, and killing Xyler and Craz.

Bill gets mad at Soos, Mabel, and Dipper.

Dipper returned in a timely manner and told Mabel and Soos that, while they’re in Stan’s mindspace, they can do whatever they want. The three battled Bill and he was nearly defeated but put a stop to everything instead. Impressed, he decided to let the three go and warned them about a mysterious darkness that will change everything, before telling them he will be watching them, leaving one last impression of the wheel that encircles him in book 2.

Season 2

Bill reappeared again in «Sock Opera» for the first time in season 2, when Dipper tried to figure out the password for the laptop from the former episode, «Into the Bunker». He offered the laptop’s password in return for the favor he wanted, but Dipper refused the offer. Later, at the moment the laptop was on a countdown for complete data erase after too many failed password entries, he appeared again and Dipper accepted the deal of trading a puppet to obtain the password. Bill took over Dipper’s body as his «puppet» and destroyed the laptop.

He then followed Mabel to her puppet show in pursuit of Dipper’s journal that was being used as a prop in the show. After Mabel was informed of Dipper’s body having been stolen by him, he found her with the journal as she retrieved it for Dipper. He almost swindled her out of it, but wound up in a fight with her. He ended up losing because Mabel used Dipper’s physical weakness and exhaustion to her advantage. As Dipper collapsed, he was thrust out of Dipper’s body. Bill possessed the Dipper puppet afterward and said that he will return. However, Mabel lit the pyrotechnics, which destroyed the puppets.

Bill briefly appears in Ford’s dream during the episode «The Last Mabelcorn», warning him about the end of the world that is coming. In this episode, it is revealed that Bill originated from an alternate dimension known as the Nightmare Realm.

He appears again in «Dipper and Mabel vs. the Future», where he possessed Blendin Blandin and tricked Mabel into giving him the Interdimensional rift, which he eventually destroyed, beginning the end of the world. Bill then took on a physical form and began wreaking havoc on Gravity Falls. He trapped Mabel in an enormous bubble, melted the statue of Nathaniel Northwest, and introduced his friends, an assortment of monsters as terrifying and weird as Bill himself. After Ford Pines attempted to blast the dream demon back into his own dimension, Bill turned him into a golden statue to use as a backscratcher and destroyed the three journals.

Bill «is destroyed» by Stanley Pines

In the series finale «Weirdmageddon», Bill discovered his inability to leave Gravity Falls even after entering the real world. To find a way out, Bill tried to get into Ford’s mind, but Ford refuses to let him in. After capturing the kids and coming very close to killing them, Ford caved in and let Bill into his mind in exchange for Stan and the kids’ lives. Bill entered his mind only to find that Ford switched places with Stan and now Bill is in Stan’s mind. Before Bill can escape, Ford started erasing Stan’s Memory, causing Bill to deteriorate in glitch-like fashion inside the mindscape as Stan punched Bill right in the eye and shattered him into pieces, destroying him and forever ended his evil game.

Following his demise, everyone was free from the tapestries as Weirdmageddon immediately then winded to an end when the Henchmaniacs were forcibly sucked back into the Nightmare Realm with all the chaos, from where they came and soon the entire valley and town of Gravity Falls was restored as everything returned back to the way it was before the whole tragedy even began. Shortly after, the only thing that remained of Bill Cipher after the event was his petrified body now lying isolated somewhere within the woods.

Other appearances

Bill Cipher makes several cameos in DuckTales (2017), as symbols resembling him. He can be seen in a hieroglyph in «The Living Mummies of Toth-Ra!», albeit colored green. Bill also appears in the notes in Launchpad McQuack’s windshield in «Beware the B.U.D.D.Y. System!». He also appears in «The Last Adventure!» as a drawing in Isabella Finch’s original Junior Woodchuck Guidebook.

Bill makes a brief cameo in The Owl House episode «The Intruder» among the demons on King’s «Demon 101» wall.

In the Amphibia episode «Wax Museum», several figures and silhouettes resembling Bill can be seen. A drawing of Bill also appears in the episode «True Colors» as Marcy Wu reads a book containing information about the Calamity Box.

Bill makes a cameo in the Big City Greens episode «Present Tense» as a plush toy.

Trivia

  • He is based on the Eye of Providence which is most commonly seen on the back of an US $1 Bill.
    • He was initially going to be colored green like the dollar bill, but he resembled a leaf too much, so instead he was given a yellow color.
      • (This lead to many jokes among the fandom about Bill resembling a Dorito, much to Hirsch’s ire).
  • Alex Hirsch had initially hoped to cast Twin Peaks creator David Lynch as the voice of Bill. When he turned the project down, Hirsch decided to simply do an impression of Lynch for Bill’s voice, giving him the loud nasally tone Lynch gave to the character Gordon Cole.
  • On the page about Bill in book 2, the -$12 bill says «Semper vigilantum», which in Latin means «always watching».
  • Bill mentions gold (and Stan mentions burying gold in «Boyz Crazy»). The Beale ciphers are a set of three ciphertexts, one of which allegedly states the location of a buried treasure of gold, silver, and jewels estimated to be worth over USD$63 million as of September 2011.
  • He may also be related to the Illuminati, a figure on the Mayan Calendar and subject of innumerable modern conspiracy theories.
  • It is unknown what he wanted in return from Gideon when he got the safe code from Stan’s memory.
  • Both Gideon and Dipper’s journals contain sections on Bill, but strangely, Gideon’s journal contains instructions on how to summon Bill, whereas Dipper’s contains instructions on how to stop Bill if he is summoned.
  • In the game Rumble’s Revenge, one of the translated cryptograms says «I will be returning to Gravity Falls..» This foreshadows his appearance in «Dreamscaperers».
  • He unofficially appeared as a pop-cultural cameo in the Rick and Morty episode «Big Trouble in Little Sanchez». This is due to Alex Hirsch having guest-starred in this episode and being friends with Rick and Morty co-creator Justin Roiland.
  • Bill’s wheel symbol makes a cameo in Disney Infinity 3.0 Edition.
  • After the credits, Bill’s petrified body is mysteriously shown in real life. This later became part of the alternate reality game Cipher Hunt. The Bill Statue used for Cipher Hunt is now on display at Confusion Hill in Piercy, California, one of the roadside attractions that inspired the Mystery Shack.
  • Right before his death, there is some sort of hidden message encoded in Bill’s last words which translates to: «A-X-O-L-O-T-L, MY TIME HAS COME TO BURN, I INVOKE THE ANCIENT POWER THAT I MAY RETURN!«.
  • Bill Cipher was originally going to have his own Villain Song in the Weirdmageddon Arc, called It’s Gonna Get Weird.
  • Bill makes a cameo in The Simpsons episode «Bart’s in Jail» where the family collectively hallucinate Loki, along with his «many forms» which include Anansi, Monkey King, Jesus Christ, Huēhuecoyōtl and Bill himself who tells the Simpsons «Buy crypto, suckers!» Hirsh reprised his role for the episode.

Summary

Bill Cipher is the main villain of Gravity Falls, and is a triangular dream demon who exists in the Mind/Dreamscape, secretly being responsible for many of the most important events of and leading up to the show. Years ago, he found Stanford Pines while travelling across realities, and while initially he acted as a friend for him, later it was revealed that he was just tricking him into making his portal device in a connection between Standord’s universe and the Nightmare Realm, the Bill Cipher’s home dimension, allowing the latter to invade the universe along with his friends. Ford permanentely shut down the portal to prevent that from happening, however, Bill Cipher could later return after that Gideon Gleeful summoned him. After getting defeated at the beginning from Dipper Pines and his friends, in the latest episodes Bill Cipher managed to return, gaining also a physical form, starting to spread chaos and destruction across the city of Gravity Falls, eventually destroying everything else in existence.

Non-Corporeal (While in his Mindscape form, exists as a non-corporeal mind made out of pure energy), Non-Physical Interaction, Immortality (Types 1 and 6), Self-Sustenance (Types 1, 2 and possibly 3), Quantum Manipulation (By technicalities, Bill is made up by mathematical probability from existing in a state of quantum uncertainty based on the amount of information found about him, since he is implied to contain numbers inside his body & geometrically-shaped as well mathematics form. Because of this, Bill should not have the requirements a living being has to sustain itself, including probably also the stamina), Dream Manipulation (Can enter in other people’s dreams and manipulate them), Precognition (Can accurately predict future events and a «kaleidoscope of temporal probability with fluctuating range»), Clairvoyance (Can see into events occurring in different dimensions, including the actions of his infinite variants), Sound Manipulation (Can alter his own voice), Social Influencing (Was able to trick Dipper in a deal from using his past, and manipulated as he wanted Stanford for years), Flight (Type 2), Sleep Inducement (Put Mable to sleep from just snapping his fingers), Teleportation (Shown here), Body Control, Shapeshifting, (Can shape-shift himself into other people in order to trick someone and stated that «Trasforming in whatever form people fear most» is one of the things it finds funny to do), Size Manipulation (Can change its own size and shape as it likes; «Bending its own fingers» is one of the things Bill finds funny to do), Acausality (Type 4: Could live in the Nightmare Realm, a lawless place where even the laws of physics don’t apply, for 1 trillion years), Time Manipulation (Stopped time upon first appearing), Telekinesis, Light Manipulation, Darkness Manipulation (Stalked Dipper as a shadow), Life Manipulation, Creation (Can create things from nothing like a screaming head), Duplication (Shown here), Mind Manipulation, Telepathy and Limited Possession (Can enter other people’s minds, read their thoughts and exist within minds, other than being heavily implied that it can manipulate minds in this way, like when it possessed Ford and messed up with his memories and stated that «Eating childhood memories» is one of the most funny things to do), Gravity Manipulation (Can turn things upside down. Can attract a deer’s teeth to itself, and give them back), Retrocognition (Shown to Dipper past events), Time Travel (Appeared in the dreams of Blendin, who is from the future. Was able to possess him off-screen), Dimensional Travel, Portal Creation, Technology Manipulation, Data Manipulation, Fire Manipulation, Resistance to Madness Manipulation (One peek into the Nightmare Realm drove Fiddleford briefly insane and made him poetically describe a future event; Bill lived there for 1 trillion years), Pain Manipulation (Claimed that pain is a fun thing when he was testing Dipper’s body, implying that it was new for him), Quantum Manipulation (Exists in a state of quantum uncertainty, making alterations on a quantum scale against it ineffective) and Invisibility (Could see Dipper’s soul despite the latter can’t be seen nor heard from regular humans)

As before, minus his powers inside a mind, but including Superhuman Physical Characteristics, Regeneration (Low-Godly for his body: Lacked a physical form and easily created one for himself from his 2D mind. Would have been able to form himself in other ways if he wanted to. Repeatedly regenerates damage done to his body), Immortality (Types 2 and 3), Fourth Wall Awareness (Is aware of the real world and can «see» us, warped the show’s intro into featuring him), Enhanced Size Manipulation (As before, but can also reach the size of planets of even a galaxy if he wants to), Enhanced Senses (Implied to have more than just 5 senses unlike human beings), Magic, Reality Warping, Enhanced Time Manipulation (When starting Weirdmageddon stated that time was dead while showing a clock and birds slowing down until stopping, it’s unknown how others could deal with this, later Blendin described the place as «time dodge». Killing Time Baby gave him improved control over time. Listed «Making time stop forever» as fun), Pocket Reality Manipulation and BFR (Created Mabelland and trapped Mabel there), Technology Manipulation, Duplication (Briefly demonstrated in his battle against Shacktron), Higher Dimensional Manipulation, Law Manipulation and Causality Manipulation (Wanted to use the Weirdmageddon to free the reality from any kind of law and causality system), Madness Manipulation (Can create bubbles that can sometimes induce madness into whatever it touches, his true name can cause ecstasy and frenzy to mortals, and they would disintegrate into vapor), Petrification (Turned multiple people into statues. Turned Stanford into gold, twice), Biological Manipulation (Shuffled «the functions of every hole in» Preston’s face), Spatial Manipulation (Controls space), Status Effect Inducement (Massively limited Ford’s movements, making him also unable to leave his current position even if mid air. Can also burn the beings he affected in this way if he wants to) Possible Statistics Amplification (Likely amps its own statistics with its Berserk Form when angry), Life Manipulation, Summoning, Astral Projection, Forcefield (Demonstrated here), Intangibility (Type 3 as shown here), Explosion Manipulation (Shown here), Matter Manipulation (Type 2: Controls matter. Threatened to disassemble Dipper and Mabel’s molecules. Transformed a person into a chair. Transformed a tree into a tentacle and a utility pole into disembodied leg. Transformed six people into banners with a snap of his fingers), Energy Projection, Energy Manipulation, Weather Manipulation (Created a storm), Electricity Manipulation, Power Bestowal (Bill Cipher displayed this when doing this to his minions and can bestow infinite power and grant wishes by Deals), Animal Manipulation (Mabeland inhabitants were made of cockroaches), Resistance to Time Manipulation (Implied to be unaffected from time itself), Extreme Cold and Cosmic Radiations

Physical Strength: Unknown, Varies via Possession || Varies physically with Size Manipulation from Country Level Striking Strenght with Class D Lifting Strenght (Immensely superior to Time Baby, who can sustain his weight of 9 trillion tons) to Galaxy Level Striking Strenght with Galactic Lifting Strenght

Attack Potency: Unknown (Stated to be a 2nd-dimensional being who can’t have a physical form unless it possesses someone or something, thought it should be noted that 2nd-dimensional beings could harm Stanford, making 2D beings still weaker than 3D ones, but not on an infinite extent. Destroyed the entirely of the 2nd dimension), Varies via Possession || Varies physically with Size Manipulation from Country, possibly Galaxy (Vaporized Time Baby with a single energy beam. Likely implied to Stanley to being able to create his galaxy for him if he accepted his deal) to at least Galaxy (Should be able to become bigger than a whole galaxy, as shown from Stanford growing larger than a galaxy with Bill’s powers if he accepted his deal). High Multiverse+ via Weirdmageddon (Stanford claimed that Bill was a threat to all the multiverse, which is made of infinite universes. Time Baby stated that if Bill didn’t stop the Weirdmageddon, all the existence would have been destroyed, with Bill wanting to use the Weirdmageddon to free everything from all the restrictions, laws and causality systems, making the multiverse lawless as the Nightmare Realm, the space between universes)

Durability: Unknown, Varies via Possession || Varies physically with Size Manipulation from Country, possibly Galaxy (Can fight against Shacktron, who could directly tank Bill’s energy beams) to at least Galaxy

Speed: Unknown (Despite being able to move in the 3rd dimension, it never had a speed feat), Varies via Possession || Varies with Size Manipulation from Superhuman (Immensely above the likes of Multi-Bear, who should be as fast if not faster than regular bears, who can reach speeds of 35 mph or 15.65 m/s) to MFTL+ (Being bigger than a galaxy should at least grant this speed)

Intelligence: Super Genius (Is said to know «lots of things», such as the truth of many well-known conspiracies as well as future events, like the destruction of Gideon-bot and that Gideon Gleeful would go to prison. Has at least 1 trillion years of experience. Immensely more intelligent than Stanford, a genius who could create a machine who uses space-time. Bill is also able to look through the eye of anything that is made in his image, allowing him to know what occurs even when he isn’t around. Tricked and terrorized great minds in history «since time began»)

Stamina: Possibly Limitless (Didn’t recognize being tired when in Dipper’s body, implying it was something new to him), Varies via Possession || Possibly Limitless (As before. Claimed to have infinite power)

Range: Unknown. Can also see the actions of all his infinite variations at the same time), Varies via Possession || Up to High Multiversal+ (His abilities can extend up to the entirety of existence)

Weakness: Will do irrational things at times and he is extremely cocky and arrogant. Bound inside of Gravity Falls due to it being an incredibly powerful magnet for weirdness. His regeneration seems to take a bit of time as he complained about how long it took him to regenerate his eye back. While he is in someone’s mind, memory erasure can be used to erase him. However, as hinted by clues such as a hidden incantation Bill spoke in reverse, he can eventually return from being erased.

Notes

  • Note 1: Bill’s Possession can be used only if the target gets tricked by Bill and agrees with it to sign a contract with shaking its hand, however Bill showed to posses inanimated objects like a sock without this restriction.
  • Note 2: Do not try to upgrade Bill’s physical statistics to High Multiverse+, as he lacks physical feats which make him on par with the Weirdmageddon, other than needing to destroy the interdimensional rift in order to activate it, making the Weirdmageddon just the result of spilling the Nightmare Realm in the universes.
  • Note 3: Do not try to upgrade the Gravity Falls verse cosmology to Hyper Dimensional+ based on 11-Dimensional aliens. These beings, due to them existing in 7 to 11 dimensions at once, had a «horrible sense of direction», which lead their ship to crash on Earth, dying as result, and thus confirming that said dimensions aren’t superior to the lower ones.

It’s time we do a little redecorating! I could really use a castle of some kind! And how about some bubbles of pure madness?! This party never stops! Time is dead and meaning has no meaning! Existence is upside down and I reign supreme! Welcome, one and all, to WEIRDMAGEDDON!
~ Bill Cipher bringing forth Weirdmageddon.
Listen, Ford, if you just tell me that equation, finally your dimension will be free. Anything will be possible. I’ll remake a fun world, a better world! A party that never ends with a host that never dies! No more restrictions, no more laws! You’d be one of us, all powerful, greater than anything you’ve imagined! And all I need is your help.
~ Bill trying to convince Ford to help him.

Bill Cipher is the main antagonist of the Disney Channel/Disney XD animated series Gravity Falls, serving as the overarching antagonist of Season 1 and the main antagonist of Season 2.

An immensely powerful dream demon from the Second Dimension who became the leader of the Nightmare Realm, Bill wants to bring chaos and destruction across the Third Dimension by achieving a physical form and opening a rift between the Nightmare Realm and Earth. He is the archnemesis of the Pines family, particularly Dipper, Mabel, and Stanford, the latter being his former friend.

He was voiced by series creator Alex Hirsch, who also voiced Grunkle Stan, Old Man McGucket, Jeff and Dippy Fresh in the same show.

Appearance

Bill is a floating yellow triangle with a single cat-like eye in the center (though sometimes near the upper corner; also known as the Eye of Providence), a black bow tie, a top hat, and thin black limbs. He is sometimes seen holding a yellow or black cane as well. Bill’s body also flashes when he speaks as he has no actual mouth. Bill’s top hat is not an accessory or article of clothing; it is actually part of his body. This can be seen in the episode «Weirdmageddon Part 1» when Stanford shoots his quantum destabilizer gun at Bill and misses, hitting his hat and revealing flesh and bones within.

However, when angered, his color is inverted, with his eye turning black, outline turning white, and yellow turning glowing red, although his form can change to that which is desired at will. A tapestry hanging from the wall in «Northwest Mansion Mystery» depicts him as black or ash gray instead of yellow and with a red-eye. In «The Last Mabelcorn», he appears for a few moments as black with a yellow eye. As seen in the finale, he also sometimes changes colors when distressed.

In the three-part series finale «Weirdmageddon», Bill assumes multiple three-dimensional forms as a result of finally entering our world through the destroyed Interdimensional Rift, including a black multi-tiered and multi-armed pyramid, a three-dimensional version of his default yellow form (including a giant version), and his most horrifying and terrible form of all, that of a colossal red multi-tiered pyramid with eight different glowing limbs resembling a spider, sharp teeth and tongues erupting from his body, and a black eye with a lizard-like yellow pupil, which he assumes during the final battle as he hunts down Dipper and Mabel Pines.

As he is being erased and speaking his hidden resurrection spell, he transforms into several different forms in an attempt to escape, including his angry red form, a stone-like form with two stone pyramids which could rotate with one eye on each side that also rotate and a stone block having his arms and bow tie, a distorted form with several green eyes and limbs, flashing between yellow, pink, blue, and orange, before finally assuming his black form with red-eye as seen on the tapestry. When Stanley punches him, he briefly flashes back to his default yellow form before being wiped out completely.

While possessing a person, that person’s body will take on a pale tone to their skin and their eyes will appear to be yellow with black slits, similar to his own. If necessary, both Bill’s yellow main portion and the eye can portray images similarly to a television screen, all of which are seemingly what he is thinking about at the time.

Personality

To Bill, it’s just a game, but to us, it would mean the end of our world.
~ Ford describing Bill’s view on destroying the world.

At first, Bill seems to be a charming and charismatic figure, willing to help people with their problems while making deals with them, but this easily changes within minutes of his debut, especially when he reveals his true nature: that of a highly intelligent and manipulative individual, who only wants to benefit himself. Because of his harmless appearance and charismatic nature, he often enjoys playing games with people, either to make himself more trustworthy or because he likes manipulating people, regarding how easily they fall into his traps. It also gives whoever doesn’t know his true nature the false impression that he isn’t evil when in actuality, Bill is a completely heartless monster. He is unfailingly nice and friendly to his Henchmaniacs as well as long as things go the way he wants. However, when this is not the case, he is quick to lash out to them and does not care about their well-being.

He usually speaks with a high-pitched voice with a synthesized effect, but when furious or expressive, it becomes very deep and intimidating in a way that’s more in line with traditional demon depictions. When he gets mad, Bill becomes full of rage, attacking without mercy and for the most part, stops fooling around. He is also very masochistic, as he enjoys hurting himself, as shown when he tortures Dipper’s body while possessing it, even exclaiming that pain is hilarious. He also has no problem killing or hurting children like Dipper and Mabel, as shown when he purposefully harms Dipper’s body while possessing it and nearly kills Mabel to force Stanford to surrender to him. An expert manipulator and a masterful liar, he is clearly capable of fooling others into trusting him long enough for him to betray them in a heartbeat and is falsely affable enough to influence others into playing pawns or making deals with him (which he will almost always double-cross to his advantage).

However, while an easily angered madman, he is also highly authoritative, perspicacious, influential, and decisive, knowing when to pull out of a fight. As of «The Last Mabelcorn», Bill is an extremely calculating and diabolical mastermind. Sometimes, even those who are aware of how depraved he is fall for his charm. Bill is also known for his complete disregard of rules and morals, as he considers laws and physics to be quite senseless and doesn’t even care about the consequences of his actions even if they can endanger the fabric of existence; likewise, the idea of destroying the Earth is a mere game to him. Ultimately, he dedicated his existence to spreading complete chaos and followed his selfish philosophy of doing whatever he wants without any care for the consequences.

In his final moments, Bill is shown to be absolutely terrified of dying as seen when being exploited by his own weakness. Also, he is implied to have some guilt about destroying his homeworld and killing his own parents but is unable to admit it, as seen in Axolotl’s words: «Misses home but can’t return. He says he’s happy; he’s a liar. Blames the arson for the fire». However this could also just be an act of fake remorse to save himself, considering he tried to kill Stan in his last moments. Bill seemingly hates perverts, shown when a fan asked him if his triangular sides were equilateral or not, Bill replied: «THAT’S A SICK QUESTION YOU PERVERT.» His madness might stem from the restrictions of his own homeworld, as shown when he talks with Stanford and his extremely negative relationship with his family that was confirmed to be «worse than Stan’s». However, this does not serve as an excuse for his crimes, because it only shows how heinous he really is, and highlights his desire for utter chaos with no restrictions.

Powers and Abilities

You’re making a mistake!! I’ll give you anything: money, fame, riches, infinite power, your own galaxy, PLEASE!
~ Bill Cipher describing his abilities while pleading for mercy to Stan.

While Bill is vastly powerful and competent, he cannot normally interact with the physical world while trapped inside the Nightmare Realm. He is able to observe the world, but not influence it, as he can only appear to people in dreams, being virtually omnipotent within the dreamscape. Bill can also act by making a pact with a willing vessel, but in doing this he is subject to all the constraints of the vessel body and cannot use his own power to reshape the world at will. He also has a great vast of knowledge available, claiming he knows «lots of things». However, he doesn’t know everything in the universe.

When Bill Cipher escapes the Nightmare Realm, he becomes able to use his full power within the real world, and his power seems to be almost limitless, possibly next to godlike. He is able to reshape reality and everything in it to his will and can even defeat similarly powerful entities such as Time Baby.

On the brink of defeat, he offered Stanley Pines «his own galaxy», implying that his power could potentially be on a cosmic scale. However, he has some weaknesses. Namely, he cannot escape the weirdness-attracting bubble around Gravity Falls on his own and lack the knowledge of how to undo the bubble, and he is unable to use his powers directly on objects that are protected by a barrier of unicorn hair.

Also, he cannot possess someone as long as the host refuses to shake his hand. In the mindscape, Bill is nothing less a thought which means if Bill was in someone’s mind that is about to be erased, he will be erased along with it, presumably this will annihilate him from existence but there is evidence that he may survive even this, though greatly weakened and possibly unable to return to the physical world.

Other Media

A memorial statue of Bill can be seen at one point in the graphic novel Gravity Falls: Lost Legends with the caption «He was the WORST».

Don’t Color This Book! It’s Cursed!

Bill makes a small cameo in the book Don’t Color This Book! It’s Cursed!, where he appears on one of the pages, sobbing uncontrollably alongside Li’l Gideon to the point that their tears make an entire ocean with a fish in it.

Rick and Morty

Bill has had several cameo appearances in Justin Roiland and Dan Harmon’s hit animated series Rick and Morty. In the episode «Big Trouble in Little Sanchez», he is briefly seen on a computer monitor. Bill is also seen in «The Wedding Squanchers» on a screen when Rick Sanchez is being studied by both Nuptia 4 and the Galactic Federation. In the Rick and Morty episode «Morty’s Mind Blowers», where it’s discovered that Rick Sanchez secretly stores Morty Smith’s memories, there are two memories labeled «Stanford» and «Bill C». It’s very likely that they are memories of encounters with Ford and Bill Cipher, since the two series are considered to occur in the same multiverse, and both Ford and Bill, as well as Morty, have traveled between dimensions.

The Simpsons

Bill Cipher makes a cameo appearance in The Simpsons episode «Bart’s in Jail». When the Simpsons family spend $500 at a fancy restaurant eating appetizers, they hallucinate Loki. He shows them some of the other forms he takes, one of which being Bill Cipher, who exclaims «Buy crypto, suckers!».

Paradise P.D.

Bill Cipher has also several cameos in Paradise P.D., appearing in the episode «Who Ate Wally’s Waffles?», where a hieroglyphic resembling him, dressed as Mickey Mouse, was seen on the pedestal containing Walt Disney’s frozen brain.

Quotes

Trivia

  • Contrary to popular belief, Bill Cipher cannot be identified as male or female, as he is a being above the concept of gender or race. He also claims his home dimension has 14 billion different gender identities and there is paperwork involved in determining the sexual orientation and he’s not exactly been keeping track of his. That said, Cipher does sound like a male which combined with his name, are the reasons people assume he is one. As such, this wiki refers to Bill with «he/him» pronouns.
  • David Lynch was the original choice to voice Bill, but he declined the role. Alex Hirsch (who already voiced many characters of the show) decided to voice him instead.
  • His full name is likely a reference to the Beale ciphers; encrypted manuscripts which are said to lead to a great, hidden treasure and which only one of three have been decoded. This is entirely possible as codes and ciphers are hidden all throughout the series.
  • He was based on the Eye of Providence, a common symbol allegedly used by the Illuminati (which is theorized to follow the New World Order concept), as creator Alex Hirsch confirmed in the Special «Behind the Pines» stating: «What if I took the triangle off the back of the dollar bill, dress him up in a top hat, and stupid little arms and legs, and named him Bill after the dollar?». This is also mentioned in one of the Journals, where someone (presumably Ford) has scribbled a note, saying «He’s in my wallet!», and sketched the seal from a dollar bill. However, it is currently unknown why he was based on the Eye of Providence, although it is likely because the Eye is meant to be representative of God watching over everyone, lending over to Bill being nigh omniscient and watching the series’ events unfold.
  • Various things were discovered about Bill Cipher during a Reddit AMA, including the fact of him once having a family, having something to do with Gompers in the past, his favorite music being 10 hours of Rising Shepard Tone, thinking in capital letters, hating the magical symbol Kryptos, and having once known Jack the Ripper, who, according to him, used to wear clown masks and asked Bill not to tell anyone about it.
  • His backstory parallels Flatland, a mathematical novella written by Edwin Abbott Abbott about a flat world where the shapes live, and the more sides they have, the higher the position they got in their society (thus circles are the highest, and triangles are the lowest). Bill refers to this on his AMA when saying «Edwin Abbott Abbott has a decent idea». It is implied that a similar case happened in his home dimension which would explain his thirst for power, as since he is a triangle, Bill had no power in his world. Evidence of this is when Ford visits a similar dimension called Exwhylia during his interdimensional trip when he disappeared for 30 years, which also has a similar case.
  • It was never made clear what Bill truly is. While he is called a «demon» by other characters, creator Alex Hirsch has confirmed that this is just a name for lack of better description. Ford even states that no one knows really what he is. Because of his reality-warping abilities and bizarre nature, it is likely that he is inspired by the Outer Gods of Lovecraftian lore.
  • Bill originally had a villain song titled «It’s Gonna Get Weird», but the song was cut due to time restraints. A demo version is sung by Neil Cicierega still exists and was released on his Tumblr.
  • Bill Cipher originally had a much smaller role, being a minor comic relief by invading Dipper’s dreams and yelling conspiracy theories. That idea was scrapped, and Bill was made into the main antagonist.
  • Bill was originally supposed to be green. That was changed, as Alex didn’t want people to make jokes about him being a leaf. Ironically, people started making jokes that he is a Dorito.
  • In the book Dipper’s and Mabel’s Guide to Mystery and Nonstop Fun! he states several things, such as:
    • Making a reference to Killer BOB, the main antagonist of the Twin Peaks, by writing «Nostradamus was a hack! Morality is a mental cage designed by the weak! How’s Annie?».
    • Chairs have feelings and feel pain when being sit on.
    • The lunar landing was faked to hide the fact the Moon doesn’t exist. It’s a two-dimensional disk hiding alien space surveillance.
    • Western democracy is a sham propped up by an elite cabal of the super-rich.
    • His ideas of «fun», which include:
      • Pulling teeth out of a deer’s mouth.
      • Asking «why» until someone runs out of answers and starts sobbing uncontrollably.
      • Bending your fingers backwards as far as you can.
      • Eating childhood memories.
      • Making time stop forever.
      • Transforming into whatever form people fear most.
      • «Silly straws», which crack him up.
  • The head that Bill poofed up that was always screaming was based on Khal Drogo from Game of Thrones.
  • Contrary to popular belief, Bill Cipher is not his real name. Bill Cipher is a name he uses to communicate with others and also to hide his real name, which is so horrifying it could evaporate someone while leaving an expression of terror and ecstasy on their face.
  • He hates synthesized music and says it hurts when he hears it.
  • Bill is ranked fourth in the Top 10 Most Powerful Cartoon Villains Ever by WatchMojo.
