Но в реальности дело обстоит несколько иначе: правила произношения в языках различаются, да и сами алфавиты выглядят не эквивалентно, предлагая для одного и того же звука несколько вариаций буквенного обозначения. Как бы сильно мы ни желали с абсолютной точностью передать звучание русского «исходника», воплотить это вряд ли получится, поскольку целая система факторов повлияет на процесс перехода в другой язык. Единственный рациональный выход в данной ситуации — найти максимально приближенное к оригиналу звучание и написание, при этом не забывая о правилах иностранного языка. В сегодняшнем материале на примере мужского имени Александр на английском, мы подробно рассмотрим методологию транслитерации. Выясним, как по английски пишется имя «Александр» и как его правильно произносить.

Трудности правильного написания имени Александр

Для начала изучим, с какими сложностями сталкивается желающий перевести имя «Александр» на английский язык. Многие уверены, что перевод осуществляется просто и оперативно, но на самом деле необходимо учитывать особенности фонем и буквенных обозначений в языках.

Несмотря на то, что в имени Александр отсутствуют спорные буквы ё, ю, я, шипящие, мягкий и твердый знаки, неоднозначные моменты все же наличествуют. Как писать и произносить имя Александр на английском

Приступим непосредственно к рассмотрению англоязычной версии имени. Трудности перевода прежде всего связаны с различиями принципов произношения в разных языках. Фонетика действительно ощутимо различается: большинство звуков в английском языке лежат «внутри ротовой полости», т.е. произносятся с некоторым усилием, сопротивлением, здесь множество альвеолярных, гортанных, палато-альвеолярных звуков.

Это означает, что англоязычные звуки залегают глубоко, чтобы их произнести, необходимо напрячься, держать мышцы в перманентном тонусе. Звуки русского языка издаются преимущественно при помощи губ, есть несколько губно-зубных звуков. Практически все находятся «на поверхности», издаются без лишнего напряжения. Таким образом, даже если мы максимально близко передадим буквенные аналоги имени Александр на англ языке, произносительные особенности будут отличаться.

Для того, чтобы нивелировать отличия звучания, переводческая коалиция создала специализированную систему эквивалентов.

Наиболее частотный вариант имени Александр на английском, встречающийся в художественной литературе, музыкальных композициях старины и современности – Alexander. Для обозначения сочетания «кс» выбирают «x», а конец имени разбавляется гласным звуком для сонорности. Для такой вариации в британской фонетической системе существует следующее произношение: Alexander [ˌalɪɡˈzɑːndə].

Обратим внимание на два ударения, одно – на первом слоге — менее значимое, второе – и основное – на третьем слоге, что полностью соответствует русскому распределению ударений в имени Александр [ал’иксáндр], но допустимо и отхождение [ал’иксáндар]. Сходства между произносительными особенностями следующие: в обоих случаях ударный «а» полнозвучен и долог, другие звуки немного редуцируются, то есть укорачиваются.

В обеих системах произносящий зачастую хочет разбавить нагроможденные согласные в конце имени Александр на английском и добавляет туда гласный звук. Различия в том, что в английском конечный звук полностью редуцирован до нейтрального [ə]. Подметим, что и согласные в имени на английском языке будут лежать несколько глубже в ротовой полости и при произношении требовать усилие.

В американском варианте имя звучит следующим образом: [ˌaləɡˈzandər]. Наблюдаем два нейтральных редуцированных звука и характерное для американцев [r].

Если мы пожелаем перевести сокращенную форму имени – «Саша», то получим «Sasha», прижившееся и в зарубежной культуре, и в литературе. Здесь затруднений не происходит.

Но на этом наш урок не заканчивается. Не всегда написание имени выглядит именно так, как было рассмотрено выше. В зависимости от ситуации имя может иметь следующие вариации:

Olexandr (используются для передачи украинского варианта имени. Даже если русский произносящий назовет имя «Александр», перевод на английском остается приближенным к этимологии. Например: Александр Мельниченко — Oleksandr Melnychenko).

Перечисленные варианты признаны равноправными и могут употребляться в зависимости от корней имени, пожеланий носящего имя и других факторов. Но когда дело доходит до российских и международных документов, в частности, загранпаспорта, нормы становятся строже. Рассмотрим их.

Транслитерация имени Александр по российскому ГОСТу

Как было замечено выше, вариаций написания имени предостаточно. Наиболее частотным написанием имени в английском языке для англоговорящих персон является «Alexander». Но в России нормы несколько иные. Для оформления документации используется вариант Aleksandr:

Никаких сложностей с переводом «Александр» на английский не возникнет, поскольку он максимально приближен к изначальному варианту.

Отметим, что рассмотренная транслитерация используется в соответствии с официальными стандартами, но законодательство Российской Федерации позволяет гражданам подать прошение в случае необходимости изменения зарубежного написания имени. Это делается в ФМС, и в дальнейшем человек правомочен просить о сохранении именно желаемого варианта написания. IC3PEAK is a Russian electronic music band created by Anastasia Kreslina and Nikolay Kostilev. They achieved worldwide notice because of the political undertones in their music criticizing the Russian government, which led to attempts of censorship of their music in 2019. Their effects in mainstream media led to outpouring support throughout the West, and in Russia.^[1]

History

Origins

According to the duo, October 19, 2013 is considered to be the foundation date of IC3PEAK.^[2]

From the very beginning of the project the distinctive features of IC3PEAK’s work were a mixture of musical genres, a simultaneous emphasis on both audio and visual components, and lyrics that dealt with taboo topics such as death. Both artists characterize the initial period of their work as “audiovisual terrorism”.^[3] In 2014, they released the EP Substances, their first project. The entire EP was written in English. The visual design was done by Anastasia and Nikolai themselves.
Shortly after, the video for the song «Ether» was presented to the public, being the first video work of IC3PEAK.^[4]

Gaining popularity abroad

From the first days of its existence the project gained popularity outside of Russia. In 2014, after the release of their second EP Vacuum, IC3PEAK performed at their first overseas concerts in European cities such as Bordeaux, Paris, Riga, Prague, and Helsinki. Two years later, in 2016, the project performed in South America. During their stay in Brazil, the duo partially filmed their music video for the song «Go With The Flow». To this day, the IC3PEAK project continues to successfully tour abroad.^[5]

Music in the Russian language

On November third, 2017, IC3PEAK released their first album in Russian — Sladkaya zhizn (“Sweet life”) and the music video for the song “Grustnaya suka” («Sad Bitch») which quickly became a hit. The video currently has over 57 million views on YouTube.^[6]

In the duo’s earlier work their vocals performed the role of an ”instrument”. However, in Russian-language texts the semantic component prevails and references to Russian folk art are emphasized. Flowing with their increased popularity in their homeland, the duo released another Russian-language longplay named «Skazka” (“Fairy Tale») on September 28, 2018. It included new videos made for the compositions «Skazka” and ”Smerti bolshe net” («Death No More»). The video for the song «Smerti bolshe net» is IC3PEAK’s most viewed music video — at this time it has more than 100 million views on YouTube.^[7]
The band’s third album in Russian called Do Svidaniya («Goodbye») was released on April 24, 2020.

The second Russian-language album by IC3PEAK named Sladkaya zhizn and, in particular, the video for the song “Smerti bolshe net” had wide political resonance. Some conservative public figures protested the video as an insult to law enforcement structures and to the Russian authorities. They also claimed the video contained calls to suicide, which, according to the authorities, could have an impact on the duo’s underage fans.^[8]
The Russian security forces began to target IC3PEAK’s next planned tour. According to IC3PEAK, people calling themselves representatives of the security forces made threatening calls to concert venues throughout Russia, forcing them to refuse to host the duo’s concerts.^[9] The performance in Novosibirsk on 1 December 2018 became the peak of that confrontation. On that day, the participants of the IC3PEAK project and the local concert organizers were detained while exiting the train at Novosibirsk Central Railway Station. After a series of threats, interrogations and 3 hours of detention, the police, under public pressure (which included Western media), were forced to release the artists without drawing up protocols.^[10] The concert took place at an alternative venue. After a series of canceled concerts, a number of musicians and public figures around the world expressed their active support for IC3PEAK and their opposition to art censorship in Russia.^[11][12][13]

Personal life

Anastasia and Nikolai keep an extremely private lifestyle and rarely appear in public. It is not known for certain who they are to each other — in interviews, the musicians avoid giving a direct answer to this question. They also mention that they live in a wooden hut, away from city life, and this helps them to fully concentrate on their creative work process.^[21]

Before IC3PEAK[]

Nastya and Nikolai met in the «RSUH» where they were classmates, they both studied languages with the specialty of translation of English and Swedish, both members grew up in musical families: Nikolay father was a orchestral conductor and Nastya’s mother was a opera singer, despite the creative atmosphere that surrounded them since childhood none of them received any full-fledged musical education.

After meeting like-minded people in each other they both decided to quit their studies to turn to their art, by that time Nikolai already had his own project «Oceania» but he was in search of a vocalist, Nastya used to perform as part of the group #PRIPOY- a group of girls who played noise instruments, after working together they decided to join forces to create a musical duet.

Tired of “ordinary” music, Nastya and Nikolai decided to experiment in search of a new fresh sound, they tried torn rhythms, original guitar riffs and computer processing of voice, they considered the result to be quite good and decided to released on the Internet where they got a positive feedback from people, by that time both had finally understood that they wanted to do “new art” with the aim to break down the established principles of music.

The guys suffered for a long time coming with a name for the group: they feel obliged to come up with something out of the ordinary but nothing came to their minds thus they decided to take the first word that came across them, It became «Icepeak» because of the name of the Finnish brand written that was on the cover of Nastya’s laptop, later they decided to modify the name a little by changing the first «e» for a «3» to avoid conflicts with the brand.

2013[]

The first performance took place in one of the clubs in St. Petersburg but the reception by the audience was cold, it was followed by a concert at the party VV17CHQU7 at Moscow with an audience of over 600 people, here they received a warm welcome by the people in the audience who enjoyed their performance.

2014[]

In early 2014 the group released their debut EP «SUBSTANCES» under the label STYLSS along with a Music video for the song “Ether», it was followed by the releases of “VACUUM”, «Ellipse» and «I’ll Be Found», the same year IC3PEAK made its debut outside Russia after performing in France and Latvia.

2015[]

In early 2015 the group released their self titled album «IC3PEAK», as a departure from their previous releases this album wasn’t released under a label but it was self published by them, late that year the group released their next work «より多くの愛»

At the end of 2015 IC3PEAK attended a concert in Brazil where the majority of the audience was not composed by Russian speakers and the group were surprised how well they were known there, after that they went on a tour of Europe, according to the them they came across the most “strange” audience in Poland: instead of the usual slam and dancing the club guests politely listened to them, standing in one place and only applauded during the breaks.

In order for the music to have a higher quality sound it was decided to start recording exclusively at studios but they lacked the money, to do this, Nastya and Nikolai conducted a 2-month tour of the CIS countries and Europe and the rest of the money for the album was collected using crowdfunding.

2016[]

In 2016 IC3PEAK toured Brazil, the USA and Mexico, in May the album «Fallal» was released along with music videos for the songs «Go With The Flow» and «So Safe», it was followed by the single «Really Really» and the single «Kawaii / Warrior», after the release of this singles fans noted that the group sound became more refined and their lyrics more meaningful — before that IC3PEAK did not attach any special meaning to the lyrical component, however, even then the songs still can be unclear to the average listener since their lyrics became more abstract.

2017[]

In 2017 the group released the EP «So Safe», it was followed by the singles «KTO» and «Monster», in November the group released their next album «Сладкая Жизнь», this was their first album fully in Russian, a music video was released for the song «Грустная Сука / Sad Bitch»

the same year IC3PEAK won at the Jager Music Awards’s Electronic category, they also received the Golden Gargoyle Award for best experimental project of the year.

Later that year they went on a tour of the United States and Latin America, back in Russia they started to face resistance from the more conservative part of society, the group was even accused of distributing forbidden information to children, as some songs have obvious political overtones and their work was called frightening and destructive with the group being described as «Audiovisual Terrorist».

2018[]

The group released their next album «СКАЗКА» which features horror elements in both it’s content and imaginary, a music video was released for the song «Сказка / Fairy tale», in the fall IC3PEAK performances started being repeatedly disrupted and canceled by security forces: this happened in Voronezh, Kazan, Izhevsk and Saratov, clubs reserved in advance were closed under various pretexts and the administration had to look for alternative venues

2019[]

After suffering censorship at the hands of the Russian government IC3PEAK decided to turn to activism, on March 10, 2019 the group spoke at the rally “Against the Isolation of the Russian Internet” where they performed the song “Смерти Больше Нет / Death no more” and on August 10, 2019 they spoke at the rally “Let us regain the right to vote” in Moscow, which was attended by 60 thousand people and where they performed several of their songs.

2020[]

In April IC3PEAK released their album «До Свидания» along with music videos for the songs «Марш / Marching» and «Плак-Плак / Boo Hoo», both of them gained more than 1 million views on YouTube in the first 24 hours, the album also features rappers ZillaKami and Ghostemane as well as the Russian rapper Husky
