Andy Panda is a cartoon character who starred in his own series of animated cartoon short subjects produced by Walter Lantz.[6] These «cartunes» were released by Universal Pictures from 1939 to 1947, and United Artists from 1948 to 1949.[7] The title character is an anthropomorphic cartoon character, a cute panda.[8] Andy became the second star of the Walter Lantz cartoons after Oswald the Lucky Rabbit. He achieved considerable popularity until being eventually supplanted by Woody Woodpecker.

When Oswald the Lucky Rabbit retired in 1938, following a nine-year run, Walter Lantz’s studio went for months without recurring characters. It wasn’t until late 1937, when Lantz had a trip to a zoo. There, the main attraction of the place was a young panda which Lantz drew pictures of. He would then use his drawings to construct a new character.
Andy’s first cartoon was the aptly titled Life Begins for Andy Panda in 1939. (This was obvious wordplay on the perky titles of the popular Andy Hardy movies of that era.[9] Coincidentally, a later Andy Hardy film was actually titled Life Begins for Andy Hardy.)[10]
In the first three cartoons of the series, Andy’s companion was a feisty turtle named Mr. Whippletree (voiced by Danny Webb[2]) who was a caricature of Eddie Anderson. And Papa Panda (voiced by Danny Webb and then Mel Blanc and Dick Nelson[2])—Andy’s father— was often the fall guy for Andy’s pranks. When the turtle disappeared from the series, Papa began to function as both companion and foil.
Andy was at first a mischievous cub, whose blustery Papa is frequently trying to prove himself as a good role model. Later, Andy became a stand-alone star in the vein of Mickey Mouse, and even acquired a Pluto-like dog named Milo (voiced by Bill Shaw[2]) as a pet.
The 1940 Andy Panda short Knock Knock featured the first appearance of Lantz’s most famous character, Woody Woodpecker.[8]
By 1942, Andy Panda started wearing clothes and shoes in Nutty Pine Cabin. The character was then given a major overhaul by director Shamus Culhane for the 1944 short The Painter and the Pointer, with a far more malicious personality than he had ever shown previously, but this new version was disliked by both Lantz and audiences, and was not used again. Lantz continued to produce Andy Panda shorts until he closed his studio in 1949; Andy’s last short was Scrappy Birthday (1949), which featured his girlfriend, Miranda Panda (voiced by Grace Stafford). When the studio reopened in 1950, the Andy Panda series never returned to production.
Andy led a major part of his career in comic books, in Dell Comics’ Crackajack Comics and New Funnies.[11] One early Andy Panda comic book adventure was drawn by Carl Barks (New Funnies 76, 1943). John Stanley also did Andy Panda comic book work.
In two 1943 cartoons, Andy Panda’s Victory Garden and Meatless Tuesday, Andy’s foil was a nameless rooster. In late 1943, this rooster became Andy’s comic book sidekick, Charlie Chicken: «hatched» in NF 79 and rapidly growing into the cartoon model. Stories about Andy’s and Charlie’s often-bizarre adventures ran for many years. Some were reprinted domestically as recently as the 1990s, and in Sweden as recently as 2001.

Andy also appeared alongside Woody in shorts such as Banquet Busters and Musical Moments from Chopin. He also had a cameo in The Woody Woodpecker Polka with Miranda Panda, Oswald Rabbit, and Charlie Chicken. In print, Andy Panda appeared in a Whitman Publishing 1943–1944 Better Little Book «Andy Panda and Tiny Tom» which differed from the usual Big Little Book format by having art on every page instead of art on alternate pages. Andy was scheduled to appear as a cameo in the film Who Framed Roger Rabbit at the deleted scene «Acme’s Funeral». However, a gold colored Papa made the cut.[12]
The character appears in the 2018 Woody Woodpecker series voiced by Scott Weil. Andy also has a more mature voice with a Southern twang in this series.[13]

Осетинские парни достигли успеха в невероятно короткий срок. Сейчас «MiyaGi & Andy Panda» – один из самых востребованных рэп-дуэтов, дающий концерты в российских регионах и СНГ.
Сослан Бурнацев поначалу взял псевдоним Endspiel, по названию любимого боевика – «Адский эндшпиль», но в 2019 году придумал новый – Andy Panda. Азамат Кудзаев решил называться MiyaGi по имени персонажа семейного боевика «Каратэ-пацан».
Азамат Кудзаев
Азамат Казбекович Кудзаев родился 13 декабря 1990 года. Малая родина – Владикавказ. Воспитывался в интеллигентной и обеспеченной семье, его отец – именитый хирург, глава североосетинского ортопедического центра. У рэпера есть младший брат Ринат.
Музыкальные способности у Азамата проявились с ранних детских лет. В 7-летнем возрасте он угодил под трамвай, но выжил, благодаря усилиям отца и команды врачей. После школы парень сначала решил идти по отцовским стопам, в 2007-ом поступил в мединститут, интересовался сферой пластической хирургии. Но тяга к музыке взяла верх.
Отец согласился с решением Азамата заниматься музыкой. Сказал лишь, что сын должен максимально выложиться в выбранном деле, чтобы семье не было за него стыдно.
С 2011 года Азамат Кудзаев стал записываться на музыкальной студии. А уже в 2015-ом дал дебютный концерт под псевдонимом MiyaGi.
Кудзаев женат на девушке из родного города. Ее зовут Илона Тускаева, по образованию врач-гинеколог. Супруги растили сына, но 7 сентября 2017 года с мальчиком случилась трагедия. Тогда семья только переехала в квартиру на 9 этаже на улице Верхняя Масловка. Илона ненадолго отлучилась из кухни, но этого времени оказалось достаточно, чтобы ребенок забрался на подоконник, распахнул окно. Когда женщина вернулась, сын уже лежал на асфальте. Приехавшие врачи скорой помощи констатировали смерть.
Вернувшийся домой Азамат впал в неистовство, в припадке перевернул все в квартире вверх дном. Потом впал в затяжную депрессию: сына он сильно любил. В тот тяжелый период на несколько месяцев прервал концертную деятельность. Но судьба оказалась благосклонной к супругам. Илона снова забеременела, в 2020 году родила дочку, 13 декабря – в день рождения мужа.
Сослан Бурнацев
Сослан тоже родом из Владикавказа. Родился 2 октября 1995 года. Учился в школе №50, получил аттестат в 2013-ом. Поступил в колледж, отучился на технолога, но полученная специальность так и не пригодилась. С 16 лет парень увлекся рэпом, причем открыл ему этот музыкальный стиль родной дядя. Также в подростковые годы Сослан увлекался футболом, был заядлым болельщиком, посещал почти все матчи на стадионе родного города.
В рэп-музыке Andy Panda предпочитает четкие рифмы под ритмичное сопровождение. Еще ему близок жанр рэгги. Соединив эти два музыкальных жанра, Andy Panda изобрел оригинальный стиль, отличающийся быстрым зачитыванием текста и мелодичностью музыкального сопровождения.
Сослан Бурнацев женат, но семейную жизнь не афиширует. Он не любитель шумных вечеринок и ночной жизни, что не типично для рэп-исполнителей.
История создания музыкального дуэта
Окончив вуз, Азамат Кудзаев перебрался в Петербург с целью развития музыкальной карьеры. Там и стал работать дуэтом с Сосланом Бурнацевым. До этого, еще живя во Владикавказе, оба исполнителя входили в компанию «Dope Records», но работали преимущественно раздельно. В Петербурге парни стали записывать музыку вместе на музыкальной студии, организованной MiyaGi.
Ребята выбрали своим стилем ту самую смесь рэпа и рэгги, придуманную Бурнацевым. Дуэт «MiyaGi & Andy Panda» начал существовать с 2015 года. Финансов на продвижение у парней не было, поэтому они просто выкладывали созданные треки в сеть ВКонтакте и на YouTube, надеясь на благосклонность публики. И не прогадали: их музыка понравилась слушателям.
В 2017-ом Сослан и Азамат открыли свой лейбл, получивший название «Hajime Records».
С японского слово «hajime» переводится как «начало». MiyaGi и Panda стали настолько популярны, что к ним проявляют интерес продюсеры, предлагают сотрудничество. Но парни отказываются, так как для них важна творческая свобода. А продюсер вряд ли позволит рэперам самовыражаться.

За годы совместного творчества MiyaGi и Andy Panda создали следующие альбомы:

- «Yamakasi» (2020). Основная цель создания альбома – собрать деньги на терапию Арнеллы Персаевой – осетинской девочки, страдающей генетическим заболеванием. В него вошло 9 треков. These «cartunes» were released by Universal Pictures from 1939 to 1947 and United Artists from 1948 to 1949. The titular character is an anthropomorphic cartoon character, a cute panda.
History
In the earliest episodes of the cartoon series, Andy is a mischievous cub, whose blustery father Papa Panda (voiced by Mel Blanc) is frequently trying to prove himself as a good role model. Later, Andy became a stand-alone star in the vein of Mickey Mouse, and even acquired a Pluto-like dog named Milo as a pet.
Andy’s first cartoon was the aptly titled Life Begins for Andy Panda in 1939. (This was obvious wordplay on the perky titles of the popular Andy Hardy movies of that era. Ironically, a later Andy Hardy film was actually titled «Life Begins for Andy Hardy.») The 1940 Andy Panda short Knock Knock featured the first appearance of Lantz’s biggest star, Woody Woodpecker. The character was given a major overhaul by director Shamus Culhane for the 1944 short The Painter and the Pointer, with a modified design and a far more malicious personality than he had ever shown previously, but this new version was disliked by both Lantz and audiences, and was not used again. Lantz continued to produce Andy Panda shorts until he closed his studio in 1949; Andy’s last short was Scrappy Birthday (1949), which featured his girlfriend, Miranda Panda (voiced by Grace Stafford). When the studio reopened in 1951, the Andy Panda series did not return to production.
Andy Panda was originally voiced by Bernice Hansen from 1939 to 1940, with Sara Berner providing the voice from 1941 to 1944, and Walter Tetley assuming the role afterwards until the character’s final short in 1949. Andy made a guest appearance in the later Woody Woodpecker TV special «Spook-A-Nanny» (1964), in which he was voiced by Daws Butler.
Andy led a major part of his career in comic books. One early Andy Panda comic book adventure was drawn by Carl Barks (New Funnies 76, 1943). John Stanley also did Andy Panda comic book work.
In late 1943, the comic book version of Andy Panda acquired a sidekick, Charlie Chicken, and stories about their often bizarre adventures ran for many years. Some were reprinted domestically as recently as the 1990s, and in Sweden as recently as 2001. Andy Panda and Charlie Chicken appeared in the Mexican comic El Pajaro Loco, both in the Editorial Novaro run from 1950 to to 1984, and the Editorial Vid run from 1986 to 2010.
In 2018, Andy Panda returned on the web series Woody Woodpecker available on the Official Woody Woodpecker YouTube channel.

When Oswald the Lucky Rabbit retired in 1938, following a nine-year run, Walter Lantz’s studio went for months without recurring characters. It wasn’t until late 1937, when Lantz had a trip to a zoo. There, the main attraction of the place was a young panda which Lantz drew pictures of. He would then use his drawings to construct a new character.
Andy’s first cartoon was the aptly titled Life Begins for Andy Panda in 1939. (This was obvious wordplay on the perky titles of the popular Andy Hardy movies of that era.[9] Coincidentally, a later Andy Hardy film was actually titled Life Begins for Andy Hardy.)[10]
In the first three cartoons of the series, Andy’s companion was a feisty turtle named Mr. Whippletree (voiced by Danny Webb[2]) who was a caricature of Eddie Anderson. And Papa Panda (voiced by Danny Webb and then Mel Blanc and Dick Nelson[2])—Andy’s father— was often the fall guy for Andy’s pranks. When the turtle disappeared from the series, Papa began to function as both companion and foil.
Andy was at first a mischievous cub, whose blustery Papa is frequently trying to prove himself as a good role model. Later, Andy became a stand-alone star in the vein of Mickey Mouse, and even acquired a Pluto-like dog named Milo (voiced by Bill Shaw[2]) as a pet.

Lantz continued to produce Andy Panda shorts until he closed his studio in 1949; Andy’s last short was Scrappy Birthday (1949), which featured his girlfriend, Miranda Panda (voiced by Grace Stafford). In two 1943 cartoons, Andy Panda’s Victory Garden and Meatless Tuesday, Andy’s foil was a nameless rooster. In late 1943, this rooster became Andy’s comic book sidekick, Charlie Chicken: «hatched» in NF 79 and rapidly growing into the cartoon model. Stories about Andy’s and Charlie’s often-bizarre adventures ran for many years. Some were reprinted domestically as recently as the 1990s, and in Sweden as recently as 2001.

Andy also appeared alongside Woody in shorts such as Banquet Busters and Musical Moments from Chopin. He also had a cameo in The Woody Woodpecker Polka with Miranda Panda, Oswald Rabbit, and Charlie Chicken. In print, Andy Panda appeared in a Whitman Publishing 1943–1944 Better Little Book «Andy Panda and Tiny Tom» which differed from the usual Big Little Book format by having art on every page instead of art on alternate pages. Andy was scheduled to appear as a cameo in the film Who Framed Roger Rabbit at the deleted scene «Acme’s Funeral». However, a gold colored Papa made the cut.[12]
The character appears in the 2018 Woody Woodpecker series voiced by Scott Weil. Andy also has a more mature voice with a Southern twang in this series.[13]
