The Geely Emgrand, originally the Emgrand EC7, is a compact car (C-segment) produced by the Emgrand division of the Chinese automaker Geely. After the discontinuation of the «Emgrand» brand, the Emgrand EC7 was renamed to Geely Emgrand in 2014.

The EC7 was the launch vehicle for the Emgrand (Chinese: 帝豪品牌; pinyin: dì háo pǐnpái) brand, the medium to high-end luxury brand of Geely that was launched in July 2009. It was originally launched with multiple Mitsubishi-sourced engines including a 1.5 liter 4G15 inline-four engine and a 1.8 liter 4G18 inline-four engine.[1]

Development[edit]

The car was developed from the outset as an export model. Geely engaged a range of mainly global suppliers, including Siemens for the electronic control system, Lear Corporation for seats, and Saint-Gobain for the glass. The production line was equipped with products from Fuji, PDE, and Dürr AG.[citation needed]

Overseas sales[edit]

In preparation for its introduction into the Europe a market, the EC7 scored 4 stars in the Euro NCAP tests,[4][5] the first Chinese-designed and produced car to do so.[citation needed] As of October 2015, it is the best selling Chinese brand sedan in China.[6]

Prices are estimated at £10,000 for the 1.5 model on launch.[7]

In Iraq, the Emgrand EC7 alongside the bigger Emgrand EC8 are assembled by the local state-owned company, the SCAI.

Iran[edit]

In Iran, the Emgrand EC7 and Emgrand EC7-RV are sold by Geelran Company, Geely’s official selling agent.

Namibia[edit]

The EC7 was launched in Namibia in 2013 at the same time as South Africa.[8]

Russia[edit]

The Emgrand EC7 was made by Derways under CKD on May 23, 2012.[3] A newly redesigned EC7 was introduced to the Russian market in February 2016.[9]

Derways announced a recall of EC7 made from May 23, 2014, to November 21, 2014, due to problems with brake hoses.[3]

South Africa[edit]

The EC7 was officially launched in South Africa in 2013.[10] It’s sold at R149,000.[11]

Sri Lanka[edit]

In Sri Lanka, Emgrand EC7 is sold under the Micro Emgrand brand which is owned by Geely.

Taiwan[edit]

The Emgrand EC7 was sold as the Tobe M’way by Yulon Motor in Taiwan from May 2012.[12]

UK[edit]

The car was scheduled to be launched into the United Kingdom market in late 2012. Geely set up Geely Auto UK, a jointly-held subsidiary of Manganese Bronze Holdings also owning taxi specialist LTI. Geely Auto UK Ltd will be based in Coventry.[when?][7]

In partnership with Manganese Bronze, Geely started setting up a 40-strong dealer organisation, choosing small family-style garages to sell the cars, described as: «The sort of garages that used to sell Škodas before the company was owned by Volkswagen, and the type of establishment that once might have sold Rovers.»[13]

The second generation Geely Emgrand was shown to the public in the 2014 Beijing Auto Show carrying the new Geely Earth emblem.[14] The replacement of the emblem marked the end of the Emgrand premium brand for Geely. The second generation model is based on the same platform as the previous generation and was seen as a facelift for most consumers.

The second generation Emgrand sedan received a facelift in 2016 for the 2017 model year. The facelifted Emgrand sedan carried the «ripple grille». The tail lights were also redesigned.[15]

Overseas sales[edit]

Belarus[edit]

In Belarus, production of the Geely Emgrand 7 commenced in the autumn of 2018 by a Belarus/Chinese joint-venture car manufacturer BelGee.[16]

Russia[edit]

Despite the discontinuation of the Emgrand premium brand in the Chinese home market, the Emgrand brand was still sold in Russia. The second-generation Emgrand EC7 was introduced to the Russian market by Derways in February 2016.[9]

The third-generation Emgrand went on sale in May 2018 as a sedan only. Just like the second-generation models, the third-generation model is still based on the same structure that underpins the first and second-generation models and is in fact an extensive facelift in terms of exterior design. The update features a revised front and a completely redesigned rear end.[17]

A minor facelift for the 2019 model year was launched mainly for the then newly launched National VI Emission Standard. The update features slightly revised grille and intake inserts on the exterior, and for the interior, the GKUI infotainment system was added, enabling mobile phone adaption, Amap, online music database, voice control, Himalaya FM radio and vehicle function controls via mobile app.[18]

2021 facelift[edit]

A facelift for the 2021 model year called the Geely Emgrand Up was launched in December 2020 alongside the Emgrand GL Up. The update is complete with what Geely calls the 4.0 Family Design language and features a vertically slotted grille.[19]

News of the fourth generation Emgrand sedan surfaced in May 2021. Different from the previous models, the fourth generation Emgrand is based on a brand new platform and body. The design is inline with the Geely Preface sedan and Geely Xingyue L crossover SUV. The engine of the fourth generation Emgrand comes from a JLC-4G15B 1.5 liter naturally aspirated inline-4 engine developing 114 hp.[20] Fast forward to August 2021, the latest Geely Emgrand was launched in its home country, China. The B-segment sedan sits on the brand’s BMA platform and comes with the aforementioned 1.5 litre naturally aspirated engine that’s mated to either a five-speed manual or a CVT.[21]

At the Chengdu Motor Show 2021, Geely teased the arrival of the Emgrand L. Essentially the Emgrand sedan seen above, but with the brand’s latest design language taken from the Vision Starburst concept.[22]

The B-segment sedan sits on the brand’s BMA platform and comes with the aforementioned 1.5 litre naturally aspirated engine that’s mated to either a five-speed manual or a CVT.[21]

At the Chengdu Motor Show 2021, Geely teased the arrival of the Emgrand L. Essentially the Emgrand sedan seen above, but with the brand’s latest design language taken from the Vision Starburst concept.[22]

The Geely Emgrand, originally the Emgrand EC7, is a compact car (C-segment) produced by the Emgrand division of the Chinese automaker Geely. After the discontinuation of the «Emgrand» brand, the Emgrand EC7 was renamed to Geely Emgrand in 2014.

The EC7 was the launch vehicle for the Emgrand (Chinese: 帝豪品牌; pinyin: dì háo pǐnpái) brand, the medium to high-end luxury brand of Geely that was launched in July 2009. It was originally launched with multiple Mitsubishi-sourced engines including a 1.5 liter 4G15 inline-four engine and a 1.8 liter 4G18 inline-four engine.[1]

The car was developed from the outset as an export model. Geely engaged a range of mainly global suppliers, including Siemens for the electronic control system, Lear Corporation for seats, and Saint-Gobain for the glass. The production line was equipped with products from Fuji, PDE, and Dürr AG.[citation needed]

Overseas salesEdit

In preparation for its introduction into the Europe a market, the EC7 scored 4 stars in the Euro NCAP tests,[4][5] the first Chinese-designed and produced car to do so.[citation needed] As of October 2015, it is the best selling Chinese brand sedan in China.[6]

Prices are estimated at £10,000 for the 1.5 model on launch.[7]

In Iraq, the Emgrand EC7 alongside the bigger Emgrand EC8 are assembled by the local state-owned company, the SCAI.

In Iran, the Emgrand EC7 and Emgrand EC7-RV are sold by Geelran Company, Geely’s official selling agent.

The EC7 was launched in Namibia in 2013 at the same time as South Africa.[8]

RussiaEdit

The Emgrand EC7 was made by Derways under CKD on May 23, 2012.[3] A newly redesigned EC7 was introduced to the Russian market in February 2016.[9]

Derways announced a recall of EC7 made from May 23, 2014, to November 21, 2014, due to problems with brake hoses.[3]

South AfricaEdit

The EC7 was officially launched in South Africa in 2013.[10] It’s sold at R149,000.[11]

Sri LankaEdit

In Sri Lanka, Emgrand EC7 is sold under the Micro Emgrand brand which is owned by Geely.

TaiwanEdit

The Emgrand EC7 was sold as the Tobe M’way by Yulon Motor in Taiwan from May 2012.[12]

UKEdit

The car was scheduled to be launched into the United Kingdom market in late 2012. Geely set up Geely Auto UK, a jointly-held subsidiary of Manganese Bronze Holdings also owning taxi specialist LTI. Geely Auto UK Ltd will be based in Coventry.[when?][7]

In partnership with Manganese Bronze, Geely started setting up a 40-strong dealer organisation, choosing small family-style garages to sell the cars, described as: «The sort of garages that used to sell Škodas before the company was owned by Volkswagen, and the type of establishment that once might have sold Rovers.»[13]

The second generation Geely Emgrand was shown to the public in the 2014 Beijing Auto Show carrying the new Geely Earth emblem.[14] The replacement of the emblem marked the end of the Emgrand premium brand for Geely. The second generation model is based on the same platform as the previous generation and was seen as a facelift for most consumers.

The third-generation Emgrand went on sale in May 2018 as a sedan only. Just like the second-generation models, the third-generation model is still based on the same structure that underpins the first and second-generation models and is in fact an extensive facelift in terms of exterior design. The update features a revised front and a completely redesigned rear end.[17]

A minor facelift for the 2019 model year was launched mainly for the then newly launched National VI Emission Standard. The update features slightly revised grille and intake inserts on the exterior, and for the interior, the GKUI infotainment system was added, enabling mobile phone adaption, Amap, online music database, voice control, Himalaya FM radio and vehicle function controls via mobile app.[18]

2021 faceliftEdit

A facelift for the 2021 model year called the Geely Emgrand Up was launched in December 2020 alongside the Emgrand GL Up. The update is complete with what Geely calls the 4.0 Family Design language and features a vertically slotted grille.[19]

News of the fourth generation Emgrand sedan surfaced in May 2021. Different from the previous models, the fourth generation Emgrand is based on a brand new platform and body. The design is inline with the Geely Preface sedan and Geely Xingyue L crossover SUV. The engine of the fourth generation Emgrand comes from a JLC-4G15B 1.5 liter naturally aspirated inline-4 engine developing 114 hp.[20] Fast forward to August 2021, the latest Geely Emgrand was launched in its home country, China. The B-segment sedan sits on the brand’s BMA platform and comes with the aforementioned 1.5 litre naturally aspirated engine that’s mated to either a five-speed manual or a CVT.[21]

Как правильно произносить названия автомобильных марок?

Иностранные автомобили знают все, но все знают, как они правильно произносятся. ProGorodNN попытался разобраться.

Часто приходится слышать в автомобильном разговоре непонятные слова: «Порш», «Хундай» или «Митсубиши». Догадаться, о чем идет речь можно, но зачем коверкать названия, ради красивого произношения которых маркетологи так долго ломали голову. Портал ProGorodNN разобрался, как же все-таки правильно произносить названия иностранных автомобильных брендов.

Марка Hyundai. Непривычное для нашего языка название, коверкают, пожалуй чаще всего. «Хендай» или «Хундай» все-таки неправильно. Название переводится с корейского как «современность» и произносится «Хёндэ» с ударением на последний слог.

Марка Porsche. Немецкий премиальный бренд, в народе называют «Порш». Можно сразу вспомнить самую популярную модель, которую в России именуют «Порш Кайен». Марка названа в честь своего создателя, и произносить название «Порше», нужно с ударением на первый слог, не теряя окончание.

Марка Mitsubishi. Название японских автомобилей в английской транскрипции произносится как «Мицубиши». Но марка-то японская, и сочетание «sh» на родном языке звучит как «с». Поэтому, будет правильно произносить «Мицубиси».

Марка BMW. Сочетание всем знакомых букв на самом деле является аббревиатурой. Поэтому во всем мире марку называют «Бэ-Эм-Дабл’ю». Надеяться, что правильное произношение марки приживется в России, перестали даже сами немцы.

Китайские автопроизводители не могут похвастать легендами о происхождении названий своих марок. Большинство из них, стали выпускать автомобили не так давно, а бренды были придуманы искусственно.

Марка BYD. Название марки является аббревиатурой из слогана: «Построй свою мечту». «Build Your Dreams», в транскрипции звучит как: «Би-Уай-Ди».

Марка Geely. Полное название компании Geely – GeelyAutomobile. Правильное произношение названия по-китайски звучит как «Цзили». Но сами китайцы вовсе не обижаются на более привычное «Джили».

Марка Lifan. Слово «Lifan» условно можно перевести с китайского, как «идущий на всех парусах». Красиво и серьезно, но в китайской транскрипции оно звучит как «Лифань». Сразу выдавая родину своих создателей.

Сифа, Уайра и АМГ: машины, которые вы называете неправильно

Заставьте иностранца прочитать или хотя бы произнести слово «защищающийся», «прыщавенький» или «простофиля», и вы поймете, как жалко выглядит ваша попытка произнести имя китайского мотобренда, которое на английский транслитерировали как Qingqi. Если же вы уверенно произнесли «Чинчи», то наверняка подкинете еще пару-тройку интересных примеров в комментариях. Для всех же тех, кто извлек из себя «Куингкуи» и прочие странные звукосочетания, наша подборка может стать сборником открытий. Учимся читать, переходя от простого к сложному.

Э тому примеру неправильного произношения примерно столько же лет, сколько первым автомобилям этой марки, появившимся на просторах нашей страны. Он уверенно занимает свое законное место во всех «баянных» подборках – и все равно остается непреодолимым препятствием для абсолютного большинства, подчиняющего корейское имя нормам русской орфоэпии сквозь призму латинских букв. Некоторые смогли освоить первую часть этого сложного слова, которое начинается на «хён-», а не на «хун-». Но уверенно закончить слогом «-дэ» могут единицы. Скорее всего, потому, что как ты «Хёндэ» ни назови, баварскими колбасками вокруг все равно не запахнет. Но попробовать стоит: правильно произнося название бренда «Хёндэ», в своей компании вы прослывете эстетом. Или позёром. Но без внимания точно не останетесь.

Попытка научить всех сразу правильному произношению названия этого итальянского бренда тоже не блещет новизной. Хотя вообще здесь все просто, надо выучить лишь одно правило. Если после буквы «g» сразу следует «i», то она читается как «дж»: именно поэтому имя великого итальянского вратаря мы читаем как «Джанлуиджи» (а пишется оно Gianluigi). Ну а когда между «g» и «i» затесывается буква «h», она меняет произношение на «г»: здесь самое время вспомнить заслуженное ателье Ghia, которое называется именно «Гиа». Так что запомните: когда вы произносите «Ламборгини», вы звучите, как ценитель итальянской автомобильной моды, но стоит сказать «Ламборджини» – и вы малограмотный американский реднек, который не видит никаких поводов читать это слово отлично от «Джиэмси», «Чарджер» и «Челленджер».

Отвлеклись? А теперь закрепляющее упражнение: давайте прочитаем название корейского кроссовера Hyundai Tucson. С тем, что это Хёндэ, мы уже смирились. А вот название модели корейцы официально предлагают произносить как «Туссан», с ударением на последний слог. Да, несмотря на то, что город с тем же названием в штате Аризона зовется «Тусон», да еще и с ударением на первый слог в английской транскрипции. Истинно вам говорим: мы на тест-драйве проверяли. В общем, подбираем губы с пола, формируем ими «Хёндэ Туссан» и получаем перфекционистское удовольствие.

Да, в годы, когда итальянцы из Pagani выпускали свою Zonda, жить всем было попроще. Им не приходилось обучать людей, покупающих машину, как представить ее приятелям. А нам не приходилось ломать голову и язык, пытаясь правильно извлечь из себя набор гласных звуков, из которых почти целиком состоит имя Huayra.

При всем этом – нет, в нем нет звука «я». И звука «х» тоже нет. Немного проще жить становится, если проследить генеалогию названия и узнать, что «Отец ветров», божество, в честь которого назван автомобиль, имеет альтернативный вариант написания своего имени: Wayra. Но читается это все равно не как «уэйра», а как «уайра». Так же, как и зарегистрированный вариант Huayra. Согласитесь, итоговое «Пагани Уайра» звучит совсем не так, как то, что пишут на заборах в неблагополучных районах.

Если кто и может поспорить с итальянцами и французами по части нелогичности произношения, то это китайцы. С французскими Рено, Пежо и прочими мы уже подружились, пока не пытаемся написать их латиницей. Об итальянцах уже немного поговорили. Пора и китайцев вспоминать! Начнем с тех, что попроще: вот Changan, к примеру. Здесь хитрость заключается в том, что вопреки написанию, буква «g» в середине слова – непроизносимая. Информация проверенная: нам об этом рассказали сами китайцы еще три года назад. При этом в идеальном варианте произношения между «н» и «а» нужно сделать паузу, произнося «чанъан». Но если такие артикуляционные экзерсисы вам не под силу, можно просто сказать «чанан» и быть правым.

А вот тут у многих случится настоящий разрыв шаблона. Особенно у тех, кто привык щеголять «правильным» произношением аббревиатур на английский манер. AMC – это не «аэмси», а «эй-эм-си». GT-R – это не «гэтээр», а «джи-ти-ар». А вот AMG, уважаемые знатоки – это не «эй-эм-джи», а самое что ни есть крестьянское «а-эм-гэ». И разгадка этого кошмара проста: аббревиатура-то не английская, а немецкая. А потому и читаться канонично должна по-немецки. То есть, по правилам немецкого алфавита, «а-эм-гэ». Живите теперь с этим.

Мы уже затронули тему китайских названий. Вы уже узнали одну из хитростей. Снова закрепляем пройденный материал: разобравшись с Changan, как вы прочтете Dongfeng? Да-да, тепло, еще теплее, горячо: «g» снова не произносится. Правда, есть еще один нюанс: гласные тоже читаются не совсем так, как написаны. Итоговый вариант произношения – «дунфэн». Но это еще далеко не самое сложное.

Разбавим Китай другой страной, любящей экстраординарные названия, зачастую созданные за счет объединения двух слов. По ним можно написать отдельный материал – на у здесь мы вспомним буквально одну из моделей, которая слишком уже неблагозвучно именуется у нас в народе. И в самом деле: ну как еще прочитать WiLL Cypha? Часто приходится слышать в автомобильном разговоре непонятные слова: «Порш», «Хундай» или «Митсубиши». Догадаться, о чем идет речь можно, но зачем коверкать названия, ради красивого произношения которых маркетологи так долго ломали голову. Портал ProGorodNN разобрался, как же все-таки правильно произносить названия иностранных автомобильных брендов.

Марка Hyundai. Непривычное для нашего языка название, коверкают, пожалуй чаще всего. «Хендай» или «Хундай» все-таки неправильно. Название переводится с корейского как «современность» и произносится «Хёндэ» с ударением на последний слог.

Марка Porsche. Немецкий премиальный бренд, в народе называют «Порш». Можно сразу вспомнить самую популярную модель, которую в России именуют «Порш Кайен». Марка названа в честь своего создателя, и произносить название «Порше», нужно с ударением на первый слог, не теряя окончание.

Что до правил чтения. В аглицком наречии их проста НЕТ! Именно слово geese (гуси) читается как гис а не джис в аглицком наречии. А к исключениям относятся не только get, но и geese и give и др. Для аглицКава наречия есть только одно правило: «Пишется «Манчестер», читается «Ливерпуль»» (т.е. смотри каждое слово в словаре)

Далее. Правило, унаследованное из латинского языка для G и С. В латинском эти буквы всегда читались как Г и К. И только в началенашей эры (чуть раньше) они стали произноситься как ДЖ/Ж и Ц/Ч перед гласными i и е. Цицерона и Цезаря при жизни звали Кикеро (Cicero) и Каэсар (Caesar=Cesar). Вот такие парадоксы.

Просто подруга подруги хочет машину купить, так мы ездим ща по всем салонам и собираем проспекты. И как бы это смешно ни звучало, но практически везде эти фишки указываются как отельное достоинство. Смешно не смешно, а китайцы (а точнее, наверно, АИС) не умеют продвигать свою продукцию. Вот например взять задрипаный Мицу-Бицу Кольт. Ну ни хрена ж выдающегося, кроме 6 лет гарантии без ограничения пробега! А зато блин список «достоинств» на 2 страницы А4 мелким шрифтом! Среди них, например, такие ценные фишки как «эмблема COLT и хром. логотип Мицу-Мбибицу на задницу дверицу автомобицу».

А где все эти навороты в рекламных проспектах? А нету их. Проспект Мк уже получше сделан, но это только потому что там уже столько всего наворочено в этой мк, что просто по другому никак. В сраном Кольте и половины этих наворотов нет, а список их все равно в 2 раза длиннее!

Ладно. Хорош. А то опять не осилит кто-нибудь.

ЗЫ. Marten, а как же все-таки китайский партнэр переводит енто «Дзи-Ли»? Шо-ньть оно означает или так. чистое сияние вечнага разума.

Хочется сказать и то, что компания Geely постоянно повышает свою конкурентоспособность, а все только по тому, что машинный ряд неустанно растет и расширяется. И руководство компании, и сам персонал обладает невероятной работоспособностью. Они продумывают каждый свой шаг, и каждый рабочий знает, насколько важное вложение он делает, выполняя свою работу.
Каждый год компания выпускает не менее 3 новых моделей, и даже если это очередная модификация, она обязательно усовершенствуется, дабы приблизиться к идеалу. Такая политика руководителя позволяет компании в целом занимать новые рейтинги среди концернов всего мира и постоянной пополнять свой модельный ряд новинками.

История

Основав Geely в 1986 году как производителя холодильников на деньги, взятые в долг у семьи, Ли Шуфу преобразовал компанию в успешную продажу недорогих продуктов китайским потребителям в первые годы существования компании.

После покупки обанкротившейся государственной фирмы в середине 1990-х годов Geely производила мотоциклы. The EC7 was the launch vehicle for the Emgrand (Chinese: 帝豪品牌; pinyin: dì háo pǐnpái) brand, the medium to high-end luxury brand of Geely that was launched in July 2009. It was originally launched with multiple Mitsubishi-sourced engines including a 1.5 liter 4G15 inline-four engine and a 1.8 liter 4G18 inline-four engine.[1]

Development[edit]

The car was developed from the outset as an export model. Geely engaged a range of mainly global suppliers, including Siemens for the electronic control system, Lear Corporation for seats, and Saint-Gobain for the glass. The production line was equipped with products from Fuji, PDE, and Dürr AG.[citation needed]

Overseas sales[edit]

In preparation for its introduction into the Europe a market, the EC7 scored 4 stars in the Euro NCAP tests,[4][5] the first Chinese-designed and produced car to do so.[citation needed] As of October 2015, it is the best selling Chinese brand sedan in China.[6]

Prices are estimated at £10,000 for the 1.5 model on launch.[7]

The car was scheduled to be launched into the United Kingdom market in late 2012. Geely set up Geely Auto UK, a jointly-held subsidiary of Manganese Bronze Holdings also owning taxi specialist LTI. Geely Auto UK Ltd will be based in Coventry.[when?][7]

In Belarus, production of the Geely Emgrand 7 commenced in the autumn of 2018 by a Belarus/Chinese joint-venture car manufacturer BelGee.[16]

Russia[edit]

Despite the discontinuation of the Emgrand premium brand in the Chinese home market, the Emgrand brand was still sold in Russia. The second-generation Emgrand EC7 was introduced to the Russian market by Derways in February 2016.[9]

The third-generation Emgrand went on sale in May 2018 as a sedan only. Just like the second-generation models, the third-generation model is still based on the same structure that underpins the first and second-generation models and is in fact an extensive facelift in terms of exterior design. A minor facelift for the 2019 model year was launched mainly for the then newly launched National VI Emission Standard. The update features slightly revised grille and intake inserts on the exterior, and for the interior, the GKUI infotainment system was added, enabling mobile phone adaption, Amap, online music database, voice control, Himalaya FM radio and vehicle function controls via mobile app.[18]

2021 facelift[edit]

A facelift for the 2021 model year called the Geely Emgrand Up was launched in December 2020 alongside the Emgrand GL Up. The update is complete with what Geely calls the 4.0 Family Design language and features a vertically slotted grille.[19]

News of the fourth generation Emgrand sedan surfaced in May 2021. Different from the previous models, the fourth generation Emgrand is based on a brand new platform and body. The design is inline with the Geely Preface sedan and Geely Xingyue L crossover SUV. The engine of the fourth generation Emgrand comes from a JLC-4G15B 1.5 liter naturally aspirated inline-4 engine developing 114 hp.[20] Fast forward to August 2021, the latest Geely Emgrand was launched in its home country, China. The B-segment sedan sits on the brand’s BMA platform and comes with the aforementioned 1.5 litre naturally aspirated engine that’s mated to either a five-speed manual or a CVT.[21]

At the Chengdu Motor Show 2021, Geely teased the arrival of the Emgrand L. Essentially the Emgrand sedan seen above, but with the brand’s latest design language taken from the Vision Starburst concept.[22]

The third-generation Emgrand went on sale in May 2018 as a sedan only. Just like the second-generation models, the third-generation model is still based on the same structure that underpins the first and second-generation models and is in fact an extensive facelift in terms of exterior design. The update features a revised front and a completely redesigned rear end.[17]

A minor facelift for the 2019 model year was launched mainly for the then newly launched National VI Emission Standard. The update features slightly revised grille and intake inserts on the exterior, and for the interior, the GKUI infotainment system was added, enabling mobile phone adaption, Amap, online music database, voice control, Himalaya FM radio and vehicle function controls via mobile app.[18]

2021 facelift[edit]

A facelift for the 2021 model year called the Geely Emgrand Up was launched in December 2020 alongside the Emgrand GL Up. The update is complete with what Geely calls the 4.0 Family Design language and features a vertically slotted grille.[19]

News of the fourth generation Emgrand sedan surfaced in May 2021. Different from the previous models, the fourth generation Emgrand is based on a brand new platform and body. The design is inline with the Geely Preface sedan and Geely Xingyue L crossover SUV. The engine of the fourth generation Emgrand comes from a JLC-4G15B 1.5 liter naturally aspirated inline-4 engine developing 114 hp.[20] Fast forward to August 2021, the latest Geely Emgrand was launched in its home country, China. The B-segment sedan sits on the brand’s BMA platform and comes with the aforementioned 1.5 litre naturally aspirated engine that’s mated to either a five-speed manual or a CVT.[21]

At the Chengdu Motor Show 2021, Geely teased the arrival of the Emgrand L. Essentially the Emgrand sedan seen above, but with the brand’s latest design language taken from the Vision Starburst concept.[22]

The EC7 was the launch vehicle for the Emgrand (Chinese: 帝豪品牌; pinyin: dì háo pǐnpái) brand, the medium to high-end luxury brand of Geely that was launched in July 2009. It was originally launched with multiple Mitsubishi-sourced engines including a 1.5 liter 4G15 inline-four engine and a 1.8 liter 4G18 inline-four engine.[1]

Development[edit]

The car was developed from the outset as an export model. Geely engaged a range of mainly global suppliers, including Siemens for the electronic control system, Lear Corporation for seats, and Saint-Gobain for the glass. The production line was equipped with products from Fuji, PDE, and Dürr AG.[citation needed]

Overseas sales[edit]

In preparation for its introduction into the Europe a market, the EC7 scored 4 stars in the Euro NCAP tests,[4][5] the first Chinese-designed and produced car to do so.[citation needed] As of October 2015, it is the best selling Chinese brand sedan in China.[6]

Prices are estimated at £10,000 for the 1.5 model on launch.[7]

In Iraq, the Emgrand EC7 alongside the bigger Emgrand EC8 are assembled by the local state-owned company, the SCAI.

Iran[edit]

In Iran, the Emgrand EC7 and Emgrand EC7-RV are sold by Geelran Company, Geely’s official selling agent.

Namibia[edit]

The EC7 was launched in Namibia in 2013 at the same time as South Africa.[8]

Russia[edit]

The Emgrand EC7 was made by Derways under CKD on May 23, 2012.[3] A newly redesigned EC7 was introduced to the Russian market in February 2016.[9]

Derways announced a recall of EC7 made from May 23, 2014, to November 21, 2014, due to problems with brake hoses.[3]

South Africa[edit]

The EC7 was officially launched in South Africa in 2013.[10] It’s sold at R149,000.[11]

Sri Lanka[edit]

In Sri Lanka, Emgrand EC7 is sold under the Micro Emgrand brand which is owned by Geely.

Taiwan[edit]

The Emgrand EC7 was sold as the Tobe M’way by Yulon Motor in Taiwan from May 2012.[12]

UK[edit]

The car was scheduled to be launched into the United Kingdom market in late 2012. Geely set up Geely Auto UK, a jointly-held subsidiary of Manganese Bronze Holdings also owning taxi specialist LTI. Geely Auto UK Ltd will be based in Coventry.[when?][7]

In partnership with Manganese Bronze, Geely started setting up a 40-strong dealer organisation, choosing small family-style garages to sell the cars, described as: «The sort of garages that used to sell Škodas before the company was owned by Volkswagen, and the type of establishment that once might have sold Rovers.»[13]

The second generation Geely Emgrand was shown to the public in the 2014 Beijing Auto Show carrying the new Geely Earth emblem.[14] The replacement of the emblem marked the end of the Emgrand premium brand for Geely. The second generation model is based on the same platform as the previous generation and was seen as a facelift for most consumers.

The second generation Emgrand sedan received a facelift in 2016 for the 2017 model year. The facelifted Emgrand sedan carried the «ripple grille». The tail lights were also redesigned.[15]

Разработка

Автомобиль с самого начала разрабатывался как экспортная модель. Geely привлекла к сотрудничеству ряд мировых поставщиков, в том числе: Сименс для электронной системы управления; Корпорация Lear для сидений; Сен-Гобен для всего стекла. В Ирак, Emgrand EC7 вместе с более крупным Emgrand EC8 собирается местной компанией, принадлежащей государству, которая называется SCAI. Он поставляется в полной комплектации с 1,8-литровым двигателем и автоматической коробкой передач CVT в белом, черном, красном или оранжевом цветах. История Geely Automobiles

Geely Holding Group была создана в Китае в 1986 году. Основателем будущего автомобильного производителя стал Ли Шуфу, который на занятые у родственников деньги запустил изготовление холодильников. Спустя несколько лет компания производила уже различные виды транспорта: фургончики, мотоциклы, мопеды. А в 2001 году началось производство первых автомобилей марки Geely.

С 2010 года автомобиль выпускается также в кузове хэтчбэк, а с 2012 комплектуется автоматической коробкой передач. В 2013 году на базе этой модели вышел электромобиль, получивший название EC7-EV.

Преемник модели EC7. Стал первым из китайских автомобилей, созданным специально для европейского рынка. В Россию Emgrand 7 поступает с белорусского завода «БелДжи», на котором делают сварку кузова и мелкоузловую сборку. Выпускается в двух кузовах: седан и хэтчбэк.

Первый кроссовер в линейке Emgrand. Выпускается с 2011 года, а с 2013 собирается в Беларуси на заводе «БелДжи». Имеет 5 звезд безопасности китайского рейтинга CNCUP.

Бензиновый двигатель объемом 1,8, 2,0 и 2,4 литра. Моторы по стандарту «Евро 5». Выпускается с механической и автоматической коробкой передач. Автомобиль трижды переживал рестайлинг: в 2014 году был слегка изменен внешний вид, в 2016 – как внешность, так и интерьер салона. Самое масштабное обновление модели было в 2018 году, когда изменения коснулись не только внешности автомобиля, но и его технических характеристик.

Многие владельцы модели отмечают ее сходство с Lada X-Ray и Renault Duster.

Emgrand EC8

Автомобиль E-класса. Эта модель не получила широкого распространения на российском авторынке, так как продавалась одновременно с более дешевым EC7.

Модель 2019 года, ставшая результатом «моды» на выпуск хорошо известных потребителям моделей в кузове кроссовера. В результате рестайлинга модель получила существенное улучшение технических показателей и оригинальный дизайн. Комплектуется двигателями объемом 1,3 и 1,8 литра. Несмотря на то, что считается кроссовером, имеет только передний привод. К основным конкурентам данного автомобиля можно отнести Lada Vesta Cross и Chery Tiggo 2.
