Correct spelling

studying

Correct spelling, explanation: studying is the correct spelling because y isn’t skipped when we add -ing to a verb. Therefore studing is wrong and the mistake probably comes from the rule, that we omit the vowel e when we add -ing to a verb. y remains though and studying is the correct form.

Definition of studying:
noun, the action of learning
Studying in the morning is apparently more effective.
Jimmy hates studying. I’m afraid he’s going to fail the final exam.

  1. При добавлении — ing окончания для употребления в форме Continuous или герундия, глаголы, которые заканчиваются на — y образуют окончания при помощи добавления — ing к инфинитиву без опускания последний гласной.

    (Так как инфинитив оканчивается на — y, то — ing окончание просто добавляется к инфинитиву to study).

why do I have to write studying and not studing. I was told that the rule is to change the «y» for the «i» when I change the verb to present tense third person (studies) but then in the continuous form it is said «studying» why? in TRY I say «tring» or not?

Hello there!!! You should take off «Y» and replace it by «i» just in the simple present tense,example:

«My brother studies a lot»

But it doesn´t happen in the present continuous tense, example:

«My brother is studying a lot»

That´s why…..

I AM COMING BACK FROM BUENOS AIRES!!!!!! I LOVE THAT CITY!!!!!
